Running an ERP is one thing. Trusting the data inside it is what matters most. In more than two years of working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, I’ve seen the same problem at almost every business. The ERP is live, but its data quietly drifts. Sometimes it’s limited resources or training, sometimes it’s rushed entry or badly designed automation. Now, with bots and AI agents writing to the ERP, the risk of bad data is higher than ever. So I built a Data Quality dashboard for Business Central. It isn’t a showcase piece: it’s production-proven and has helped many clients bring their ERP data back into line. It runs 119 automated checks across customers, vendors, items, G/L accounts, open documents, posting setup, fixed assets, bank accounts, currencies, employees and projects. Examples: customers over their credit limit or missing posting setup; duplicate vendors sharing an IBAN, and duplicate vendor invoices; negative inventory and items whose cost has not been adjusted; mandatory dimensions missing on posted entries; entries posted into closed periods or the future; control accounts open to direct posting; sub-ledgers (AR, AP, inventory, fixed assets, bank) that don’t reconcile to the G/L. Every failed check becomes a row in a prioritised worklist (high, medium, low severity) with an owner per area. A quality score and trend show whether the data is getting better. Built in Power BI on a custom read-only Business Central API extension: Power Query, DAX, and HTML/CSS and Deneb visuals; KPI tiles that reveal detail on hover; a slide-out filter panel; a searchable built-in documentation page; a fully documented, AI-ready semantic model, with descriptions and synonyms for Copilot and Q&A.
