AI Adoption and Workforce Displacement Trends

The dashboard provides an in-depth analysis of the rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, particularly following the advent of Generative AI after 2022, and its multifaceted impact on job markets, skills, industries, and countries worldwide. AI adoption almost doubled from 20.2% before Generative AI to 38.6% afterward, indicating an accelerated integration of AI tools across sectors. However, this deployment has resulted in a consistent trend where job displacement outpaces job creation, although the creation ratio remains positive at 50.5%. Notably, from early 2024 onwards, job creation declined sharply. Financial investments into reskilling displaced workers have reached $61.7 million, reflecting the industry’s efforts to ease workforce transitions. Skill categories bear varying degrees of displacement risk: manual and physical skills are most vulnerable, while managerial and strategic roles are less affected. Additionally, the reskilling duration and costs differ significantly across roles, with cognitive and analytical positions demanding the most extended retraining. Industries also show differing levels of preparedness, with some exposed heavily to automation risks but investing minimally in AI, while others with greater AI investment exhibit lower susceptibility. On a regional scale, Africa and Europe lead AI adoption rates, whereas North and Latin America trail. The maturity of national AI policies correlates strongly with adoption rates and job creation, underscoring the importance of regulatory frameworks in managing transition impacts. Finally, in global terms, South Korea leads in job creation ratios, while India ranks lowest among the studied countries.
