In the Animal Shelter Operations Analytics Challenge, animal shelter operations were analyzed to assess overall performance, adoption outcomes, and key operational challenges. The analysis shows a high intake volume that places pressure on operational capacity, a Live Release Rate close to 80%, low Return to Owner rates, and higher adoption likelihood among younger animals—especially dogs. Most animals are admitted with a low-risk classification, indicating generally favorable intake conditions; however, moderate- and high-risk cases, while less frequent, involve greater operational complexity and represent opportunities for process optimization.
